Factor Ostro Vam - Inspired by a city; desiged to inspire
Marking Factor's collaboration with Justin Williams and his L39ION of Los Angeles cycling team, the OSTRO VAM L39ION Edition uses a graphic concept that represents the Williams brothers' connection to LA and its transit system. With the map of the bus lines prominent on the head tube and the high-viz lettering that practically glows in the dark for a twilight crit, this is an OSTRO VAM ready to take on the contact sport that is criterium racing.
Finding inspiration in LA
Justin and Cory Williams grew up in South Central Los Angeles on 39th street, a neighborhood not famous for its cycling history. That didn't stop the Williams brothers from finding, falling in love, and transforming road cycling in the US. But their LA roots inspired Justin to create a racing environment that would attract and inform a whole new generation of American crit racers. Using a map of the LA transit system, which is integral to connecting the many different pockets of the ultra-urban city, mirrors the role Williams has in connecting the riders he inspires to the vibrant L39ION of Los Angeles cycling community. It's a safe space to go fast, have fun, and be yourself.
"We grew up on 39th street in south central LA playing all kinds of sports and then we found cycling. It really changed our perspective on the world, and it gave us the ability to see life for more than what was offered to us with where we were from," Justin explained. "It showed us the world, and put us in a position later in our careers where we not only had the freedom to express ourselves, the way that we wanted to, true to our culture. But we also had the chance to share cycling and show what the bike can bring to people who come from where we come from."
Combining a subdued color palette of raw carbon and black paintwork with super bright accent colors and chrome, the OSTRO VAM L39ION Edition uses a color legend to highlight the different LA neighborhoods on the transit map that are connected by the various transit lines so important to commuters in the community. It's an effect that speaks to the L39ION roots while remaining universally cool and imaginative. Available for special order, the limited availability adds to its allure, ensuring that each owner possesses a unique piece of cycling iconography.
