Choosing an adult scooter

Adult kick scooters are a quick, easy way to cover the last stretch from the train or bus, or to get around town without a car. Compared with kids scooters, they have bigger wheels, taller bars and stronger decks for adult riders.

What to look for

• Wheel size: bigger wheels (around 200mm) roll more smoothly over footpaths and cracks.
• Fold: a quick-fold mechanism makes it easy to carry on public transport or store under a desk.
• Bar height: adjustable bars let you ride with a relaxed, upright posture.
• Weight limit and weight: check the rider weight limit, and how heavy it is to carry.
• Brake: most use a rear foot brake, and some add a hand brake.
